Scott did mention we could do that THREE PLAYER DRAFT again in this league ... however i wanted to get other things out of the way first (like getting 32 gms, lol) before mentioning it but youver brought it up so anyone else not want it or do want it.

    .....

RELEASING PLAYERS ON 1 YEAR CONTRACTS: I could see and would be in favor of the possibility of the GM being able to buy out the player from his own budget.

EXAMPLE: Player A is on a 3yr-10Million contract. The GM doesnt want to keep him but the only way to release him is to pay 10,000,000 from his teams bank account.

    PROBLEMS:
    1. The only way to do this is for Scott to manually go in and take the money. This could take time and get very annoying if GM after GM did this ... plus we would have to make sure he didnt mind doing it.

    2. Big contracts like 9Million or higher would be cool however i would hate to see a bunch of releases of 3M-6M players ... lots of work again for Scott.

    SOLUTIONS:

    1. Scott has to agree to help us with this first.

    2. We could say each GM can only release 3 players a year by buying them out which could stop the drastic releasing of low contracts over and over.

    3. Money would go into league revenue for all teams to share and split.

    4. All GMs would have to agree that if they want to release a player by BUY-OUT they must post on the league forum they intend to do so and then I or that GM could email scott and wait for a reply ... this is where everyone must understand that this option could take 1 hour or 5 days depending on when Scott can get around to it.

Here is where if you want the rule in tact and Scott agree's you must understand patience will be needed on your part as well ...

    any questions or imput?

One of the things I don't like about the no release rule is that it's something that is going to require policing. It sounds too much like the Nazi L31 to me. If Scott can make it so that it doesn't require a dictator telling everyone what they can and can't do, maybe I'd be for it. Another reason is that I don't see any point in not being able to release players. So what if a guy with 2 years left on his contract is released? It's not like that isn't done in real life pro leagues. SOme have it, some don't. These aren't real players that we're dealing with. There is no Franchise Basketball League Players Union. Another reason is that it's almost a contradictory rule. Some of you say that you want guaranteed contracts. Well, a 0 year contract is really a one year contract. That player has a contract through to the end of the season. If you really want guaranteed contracts with no releases, then make it so that you can't release ANYONE. That would have to include rookies, too. If you're going to go with it, go all the way. I think no releases is just a bad rule. It's communist and requires a league cop. I don't like the idea of league cops. If the coding of the game allows the release of any player, then I **** well will release anyone I please.

t.w.i.n.k.i.e I like you a lot and I dont even know you ... you speak your mind and dont back down which I like but you also don't give in much like many other GMs around the league (i wont mention names ... ... So again dont take this the wrong way because I do like you and want you in this league.

    .......
    HOWEVER
    .......

If you feel you cant stay within the league guidlines and "rule's" then please do not join.

The game is not real life however what this league is trying to do is make some aspects different then the other fantasy leagues of simgalaxy ... some area's we want to make like real life, some we dont ... you either jump on the band wagon and have a good time with it or get off at the next stop because if you dont get off and stay with a bad attitude you could be thrown off while the wagon is in full motion!

Bud I want you to stay but I dont want your attitude towards the league to keep others from wanting to be in also ... remember its all about a change right so just go with it and have fun. Imagine thier is no other leagues and this is the first one and these are the rules ...

I have to be honest and say that I have serious doubts about this league. L31 works because everyone there wants ot play the game a certain way. We don't need policing because we all agree to play the same way. If an issue comes up, it is discussed and then decided upon and everyone agrees to abide by the decision (well not everyone actually comes out and says it, but it is generally understood that it is agreed upon). We are not Nazi's or police, we are like minded people playing the game as we believe it was meant to be played.

Is L31 for everyone? No. If you felt that going over the cap was a good strategy, then L31 would not be the league for you because the people there have agreed that's not how they want to do it. Should someone be barred from our league who plays like that - sure, why not. There are 36 other leagues to join - go join one of them.

I'll be blunt when I say that I don't believe Z will work in this type of game because he subscribes to the theory that whatever goes, wins, including stashing players on the DL and going over the cap, two things the vast majority of owners in this league want to avoid. We also want to see a resolution to the player with multiple years on his contract being released problem. I think the problem Fasttracker is calling it a champions league - why not just create a league with like minded owners who want to try something different and who all agree to abide by the rules that the majority sets. If they can't do that, too bad, go play in another league. If Z can't agree to that, then why should he be able to join the league? I for one won't join unless everyone, including me, agrees to abide by the rules set by the majority.

    understand fully ...

when all the rules that everyone votes on are complete they will be posted and each GM will have to type a reply that they agree to follow those rules ... and that if they break the rules they understand they will be asked to leave the league

While i have been known to stash players on the DL and go over the cap the cap in #2 (not that it seems to be helping this playoffs) The idea of creating this league with quite specific rules as opposed to the general rules of Sim Ball is why i want to be a part of it. And i have no problem barring anybody from joining this league that doesn't agree with the majority view (whatever that ends up being).

<font size="2" face="Sylfaen, Verdana, Helvetica">It's called a democracy (you may remember that you used to live in one a few years back). We all vote and mutually agree upon a set of rules, and then we all agree to abide by them. It's not that hard a concept, and I think it's probably favourable to a league where a minority looks for loopholes they can exploit to the frustration of the majority.

<font size="2" face="Sylfaen, Verdana, Helvetica">This coming from the guy who talks trash on behalf of his non-existent players? Come on, you can't have it both ways. Of course they aren't real, but most of us like to pretend they are, as it makes the experience more realistic. If you just want to practise exploiting algorithms without any pretence that you're managing a real team, you don't need 31 other human beings to join you, you can do that with NBA Live or some other computer game.

<font size="2" face="Sylfaen, Verdana, Helvetica">I agree with Fasttracker -- if you don't want to play by the agreed rules, please don't play. The last thing we need is some cowboy who tries to ruin the game for everybody else.

You want compromise? How's this for compromise... I'll agree as long as we get a minimum of 4 trains. So far half the people want at least 4, and the other half want less than 4. Just to clarify, I don't remember ever releasing a player over 0 years left on his contract. I just think it's a bad idea.

See their you go ... its all about the compromise and I also am for the 4 trains and will push my hardest for that, lol

4 TRAINS: I think this will allow us to reach players true potentials, teams will be able to put together teams within 1 or 2 seaons instead of 3-5 like in L31 and if this league does go to a 7 game series I really need something to do if i miss the playoffs ...
